How to remove yourself from CourtListener
CourtListener is a site that republishes court records. You can ask it to hide or remove your information for free. It takes a few minutes, then CourtListener says it can take up to 45 days to act.
Before you start
Find the page about your case on courtlistener.com and copy its link. If a court sealed or expunged the case, have a copy of the order ready.
Steps
- Go to courtlistener.com/contact/.
- Choose the removal option, paste the link to every page about you, and explain why. Attach or link the court order if the case was sealed or expunged.
Good to know
CourtListener is a nonprofit. Without a court order it only blocks search engines from the page; with one it removes the document or replaces names with initials.
This guide isn't legal advice. Your state's court website has official guides to sealing and expungement, and free legal aid can help.
