Will Simbo pop up while I'm typing?
Only as much as you want. In Balanced (the default), Simbo shows a small badge only when there's a clear spelling or grammar mistake. In Quiet, nothing appears until you press the shortcut. Coach me shows everything as you type. You can drag the badge to any corner, snooze it, or turn it off for a website, and Simbo never shows upgrade pop-ups while you write.
Does it understand technical, legal or academic writing?
Simbo never flags code, file names, links, numbers or acronyms. Choose your field in Settings (software and engineering, legal, academic and research, medical and health, or business and finance) and its vocabulary is never underlined, and AI rewrites keep your terms, citations and figures exactly as written. Add any other word with one click.
Is Simbo Speak free?
Yes. Spelling and grammar checks and the reply checklist are free and unlimited. Free accounts also get a monthly allowance of AI rewrites. Pro raises that allowance and rewrites automatically as you type. See pricing.
Do you store what I write?
No. Spelling, grammar and voice typing run on your device. When you ask for an AI rewrite, the text is sent to the AI provider to produce the answer and isn't saved by Simbo. We only keep a count of how many rewrites you've used. Your privacy receipt shows every time text was sent. Details are in our privacy policy.
Does voice typing send my voice anywhere?
No. The desktop app turns your speech into text on your own computer, using a speech model you download once (57 MB, or 181 MB for the more accurate one). The audio is kept in memory only while you talk and is thrown away as soon as the text is ready. It works with no internet connection. Voice typing is English-only for now.
How much voice typing do I get?
Free includes 10 minutes of voice typing a day. Pro and Student plans are unlimited. Pro can also type what you say in 24 other languages, using the formal or informal form that fits who you're writing to.
Which AI does Simbo use?
Simbo's built-in AI uses Anthropic's Claude models. If you'd rather use your own account, you can connect a Claude, ChatGPT or Grok API key in Settings.
Does it work in Gmail, Outlook, Slack and Google Docs?
The Chrome extension works in text boxes across the web, including Gmail, Outlook on the web, Slack and LinkedIn. The desktop app works in any app where you can select and paste text, using the keyboard shortcut.
How do updates work?
The desktop app checks for updates on its own and asks before restarting. The Chrome extension updates through Chrome.
